I have been a part of Frenkel Topping for 28 years having joined as a director in 1991. I am currently chief executive officer for the company, and my main role is managing the strategy of the group and the innovation, development and profile of the business.
The most rewarding part about working at Frenkel Topping for me is being able to both help our clients and build strong relationships with the staff.
My brother broke his back falling out of a window at university in 1986, when he was only 18. He has been paralysed from the waist down ever since. To this day my mum cannot look at a photograph of Andy pre-accident. This has given me a good insight into the effect a catastrophic injury can have on an individual and their family. This gave me the drive to make sure Frenkel Topping delivers the best, most transparent service possible to our clients.
I joined Frenkel Topping in 2012, and work in the personal injury trusts team where we are the first port of call for clients where any award of damages (whether an interim payment or final settlement) may mean that entitlement to state funding for welfare benefits or community care is affected. We advise and assist clients in the protection of their existing or future entitlement to state funding.
I graduated in accounting and finance from Manchester University.
I enjoy the variety each day brings and the satisfaction it gives when I advise clients and they appreciate our assistance.
I initially joined Frenkel Topping in 2006 as a senior consultant, switching in 2009 to focus on expert witness work and training. My new role saw me increasingly writing and speaking at conferences and seminars for personal injury lawyers and becoming more of a mentor for less-experienced consultants.
As head of training, I play a key role in Frenkel Topping’s business development activities including researching, updating, writing and delivering training presentations for the FT Knowledge Hub. I also speak at external seminars and conferences and support consultants with their account development needs and technical knowledge. I am responsible for the organisation of the programme for the annual, flagship FT Deputy Day and have my own specialist expert witness practice for catastrophic injury cases.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Rehabilitation and Social Welfare through Oxford’s Richmond Fellowship, a CII Financial Planning Certificate and a CII Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning – taxation and trusts, personal investment planning, mortgage advice, business financial planning and savings and investments.
I have served as a member of the CDF Working Party for an alternative to lump sum damages and the Court Users’ Group. I acted as a leading financial expert witness in the seminal 1999 Wells v Wells case, was the winner of 2016’s Women in Wealth UK Award and was shortlisted for the finals of Investment Week Women in Investment IFA of the Year 2018 and 2019. In 2019 I was named IFA Mentor of the Year. Prior to joining Frenkel Topping I served as a director of Chase De Vere Investments PLC, where I acted as head of the legal support services team, specialising in investment of damages awards and trust work.
Having previously worked for a direct competitor, I have always admired the way Frenkel Topping, and Richard Fraser and Steve Ashcroft in particular, was always pushing boundaries and open to developing new ideas. I love the people at FT as we’re like a family – not always agreeing with everything but always there to support each other. I care passionately about both the work we do and the people we act for. Every day is humbling.
I joined Frenkel Topping in 2018 as an administrator supporting consultants, clients and report writers. Shortly after joining I was promoted to Technical Administrator. In January 2020 I moved to the client support executive role.
I work alongside our consultants, professionals and clients directly to assist them with the administration of their investments. This includes helping clients gain access to funds to meet their needs, completing financial reports for the consultants, and maintaining an exceptional client journey both as they engage with us or as an existing client.
I enjoy working for Frenkel Topping because we do something that matters, and we make a difference. The business has a real collective passion in helping vulnerable people at a time when they need it the most and it’s very rewarding to be a part of that.
As a Graduate Associate at Frenkel Topping I get the opportunity to gain experience in both the Financial Services team and the Expert Witness team. I am currently working within the Expert Witness team. We work on the pre-litigation side of a client’s personal injury claim, and I form part of the report writing team which writes reports alongside our expert witness consultants to quantify a client’s loss in relation to loss of earnings, loss of dependency and loss of pension.
I joined Frenkel Topping in September 2021 as part of the two-year graduate scheme. I hold a BA (Hons) Business Management with Law degree from Manchester Metropolitan University. I studied topics such as Corporate Financial Management at university which I found to enjoy and made me wish to pursue a career in a Finance related role. I am currently studying towards the Cii Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning with the hopes of becoming a consultant in the future.
Prior to applying for the Graduate Associate role at Frenkel Topping I could see that the company has very strong values and the company had put a fantastic graduate scheme which offers support through the Dip PFS qualifications whilst gaining industry experience at the same time.
I like the fact that no two days at work are the same, on a daily basis I deal with different clients who have individual circumstances which makes the work interesting and varied. The team at Frenkel Topping are very friendly and have made me feel extremely welcome since joining in September 2021.
In 2020, my mum suffered from a detached retina which has left her partially sighted and has made some daily tasks extremely difficult. It has made me recognize the difficulties our clients and their families face when dealing with their injuries and gives me an understanding to the worries and concerns they will be facing.
I joined Frenkel Topping as a graduate in September 2019 as a member of the Expert Witness team. This followed me completing a Law Degree from The University of Liverpool which is particularly relevant to the Expert Witness Team as I studied civil litigation, which helps me to understand the legal aspect of the cases we handle.
Following the completion of my graduate scheme and achieving a Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning I was promoted to Expert Witness Specialist. Whilst working in this position it was my responsibility to train team members and continually carry out research into aspects relevant to our reports, alongside dealing with the most complex reports we are instructed on. The Expert Witness team works on the pre-litigation side of a client’s personal injury claim, and which assists with writing reports alongside our Expert Witness consultants to quantify a client’s loss in relation to Loss of Earnings, Loss of Dependency and Loss of Pension, along with providing Periodical Payment Order and Structured Settlement reports.
In July 2023, I was promoted to Expert Witness Team Manager. As team manager, I ensure the daily functioning of both the Expert Witness team and the relevant consultants. I also ensure the Expert Witness team continues to use the most up-to-date data and processes to stay at the top of the industry.
I was attracted to working for Frenkel Topping as a close family friend of mine has cerebral palsy; Therefore, I have always seen the difficulties a disability can cause for an individual and their family. Consequently, it means a lot to me that the work we do at Frenkel Topping can help our clients’ lives be a little bit easier and of much better quality.
I first joined Frenkel Topping in August 2017 as part of the graduate scheme and took on my current role as consultant in August 2019.
My main responsibilities include supporting clients throughout their litigation by helping to calculate their losses as a result of their claim, and then continuing this support following the settlement of their case by providing them with holistic financial advice so that their settlement can work hard to support their needs throughout their lifetime.
I currently hold the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and I am working towards achieving chartered status.
As a graduate I was unsure on my next steps into my career and the graduate scheme gave me a clear path to develop my skills and knowledge in such a niche area of the financial services industry.
The best part about working for Frenkel Topping is getting to meet with clients and seeing first-hand the impact that the work we do has on their lives. Hearing stories on the amazing things our clients have gone on to do, such as starting charities and supporting others in similar positions to themselves is truly inspiring.
I joined FT in 2015 as a trainee paraplanner. My role changed to my current one following the restructuring of the business in January 2020.
I currently provide support to Elen Davies-Kay, her clients, and her professional contacts. This mostly takes the form of producing investment recommendation reports and the associated administration.
I have a BA Hons in Creative and Professional Writing with English.
At Frenkel Topping I saw an opportunity to utilise my existing skills and develop new ones. It gives me a great sense of purpose and achievement to know we are supporting some of the most vulnerable in our society.
I joined the business as a business administrative apprentice in September 2020.
I supported different teams within the business with a variety of administrative tasks, such as raising invoices, sending reports, updating our in-house system, contacting, and communicating with solicitors regarding cases, and supporting our consultants as required.
I have recently stepped into the role of a Trainee Report Writer for the Expert Witness Team. My day-to-day work consists of assisting the expert witness consultants in preparing expert reports such as loss of pension, loss of earnings and periodical payment orders.
I was attracted to working for Frenkel Topping as it is a well-established company that promotes values, I resonate with along with demonstrating integrity in everything it does.
I initially joined Frenkel Topping in April 2017 as an administrator on the business processing team. In January 2018, alongside Sue Roberts, I was a founding member of the new client relationship team. I was appointed Manager of the CRT in January 2020.
My role sees me providing support to the rest of the team, as well as ensuring clients are receiving the best possible service throughout their investment journey. From engaging with newly invested clients, providing an introduction to Frenkel Topping, to maintaining contact with existing clients and offering our support and services, I am always on hand to ensure that the client has a direct contact point within the business, in addition to their dedicated consultant.
We aim to build on our relationships, both old and new, and are happy to welcome clients to our offices for meet and greets with the wider team, providing reassurance that the client and their investments are in good hands with Frenkel Topping.
The team also assists our review consultants with arranging their annual client review meetings and works with the financial services team to acknowledge receipt of client withdrawal requests.
At the time I joined FT I was looking for a change in career, and after reading about the company and gaining some understanding of the clients and the nature of their investment needs, I was encouraged to apply for a job. Learning that this wasn’t investments for the already wealthy, and that our clients had often been through life-changing events prior to investing, made Frenkel Topping something I wanted to be part of.
I particularly enjoy getting to know our clients as people, not just clients, and this was particularly true during the covid pandemic when the importance of such relationships only increased. I realise now, more than ever, how important it is for us to have these relationships, not just for retention rates but as a genuine support network, whether relating to clients’ investments or simply as a sympathetic ear. I always take something away from our conversations that make me pleased to have spoken with clients.
I first joined Frenkel Topping as a consultant in May 2016, progressing to senior consultant in December 2017. I specialise in the fields of personal injury and clinical negligence.
My main day-to-day responsibilities include helping clients who have received life-changing awards to manage and plan for their future needs and acting as an expert witness pre/during litigation to assist solicitors with their financial reports.
Prior to joining Frenkel Topping I worked as a financial adviser for two of the UK’s largest high street banks – RBS and Barclays.
I was attracted to Frenkel Topping as it is a market leader in the personal injury and medical negligence sector. It is a nationwide business with strong values around the long-term needs of clients, but also from an employee perspective is passionate about the people who work within the business. I was also impressed by the charitable foundation, which helps clients who suffer serious injury regardless of the presence of a claim to litigate.
When I joined the company, I hoped to be able to use my expertise to help vulnerable people after life-changing events. It’s important to me to be able to provide them with the peace of mind that all their needs can be met once a tailored financial plan is in place.
My own grandad suffered from mesothelioma following negligence at work, and myself and my uncle were successful in pursuing a claim that assisted with his care in his final years. The financial security that was provided for our family gives me first-hand experience of understanding the importance of carefully considering, and looking after, any financial settlement.
I initially joined Frenkel Topping as a Finance Assistant in September 2008 before moving to the IT team in 2013, and I also spent time working as a Valuations Team Leader in 2017. In my current role I am responsible for monitoring the IT system and providing assistance to colleagues, updating our CRM with regular valuations from providers, and providing the business with daily stats.
Prior to joining FT I spent several months working as a Finance Assistant at ICON, and was pleased to move to FT in the hope of furthering my accounting knowledge.
My unique role allows me to interact with all areas of the business from consultants and staff to clients and suppliers, and it is this element that I really enjoy, as well as dealing with the day-to-day issues that present themselves with regards to modern technology. Every day is a new challenge.
I joined Frenkel Topping in 2021 as a Graduate and began my journey on the Expert Witness Team as a Report Writer.
In June 2023, I was promoted to consultant following the completion of my Financial Services Diploma in November 2022.
I work closely with the Client Directors on their Expert Witness & Financial Services work. I liaise with the solicitors, deputies, professional trustees & clients across all stages of the settlement process and ensure the Client Directors have the information to present excellent Expert Witness and Financial Advice Reports.
Before joining Frenkel Topping, I worked as a Business Development Executive for a Software Start-up called Pimberly. I also have a 1st Class Degree in Economics from the University of Manchester.
I was attracted by the opportunity to use my time and effort to provide financial advice to those who have been through a difficult situation and assisting them could be the difference between their support lasting or not.
I joined as a Business Administration Apprentice on the Commercial Team in December 2022. I log enquiries that come into the business and provide support to currently three consultants at Frenkel Topping LTD. We are usually the first contact that most people have when enquiring about any work they need or if they if they any questions about the business.
What first interested me in Frenkel Topping was the many areas of work that they do, not just in the Frenkel Topping Limited but in the Frenkel Topping Group. When I was researching for the role I found it fascinating the amount of work that goes on for a personal injury case and the fact that the solicitors needed to refer to us for work.
Working at Frenkel Topping has given me a better understanding of what people go through in a personal injury and has definitely made me a more emphatic person.
I joined Frenkel Topping as a technical assistant/paraplanner in April 2015. In 2017 I worked my way through the CII exams as a trainee financial consultant until I completed the Diploma in Financial Planning, progressing into my current role as a financial consultant and expert witness in 2018.
Pre-settlement, as an expert witness, I provide a wide range of reports to ensure the claimant’s financial claims are reflected accurately. Post-settlement I assist solicitors and vulnerable clients in a variety of ways from a simple conversation to answer some of their concerns to formal advice including cashflow analysis and detailed investment recommendations.
I hold a BSc in Finance and Accounting, a DipPFS covering financial services, regulation and ethics, investment principles and risk, personal taxation, pensions and retirement planning, financial protection, and financial planning practice, a CertPFS in Discretionary Investment Management, and an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
At Frenkel Topping I enjoy working for a company that genuinely cares for the end client and is really making a difference to vulnerable people throughout their lifetime. This is one of the reasons I can take pride and look forward to my future at Frenkel Topping.
It may seem insignificant compared to some of our clients’ injuries, but I broke my leg while on holiday in Greece. This resulted in a compound fracture that left me with an external fixator on my leg for almost a year. I was lucky to have the opportunity to fully recover with the right physio and strengthening program, however I can take from my relatively minor injury an understanding of not just the physical aspect of a personal injury but also the mental effect this can have on an individual. I hope that I can use this insight to engage with clients and understand the complexity of their needs.
I joined the company as part of the Graduate intake in 2019, starting in September after completing my BSc in Economics at the University of York. Having completed the Graduate training programme I qualified as a Financial Adviser having gained experience across the business from the perspective of pre and post-settlement life for claimants.
I have now been working in this role as a Financial Consultant for around a year, advising clients at settlement and reviewing existing investments to ensure that any awards that our clients receive are carefully managed to ensure they are there to support them throughout their lifetimes.
In addition to this, I also spend a significant amount of my time preparing Expert Financial Reports to assist Professionals during litigation, having worked in this section of the business for 3 years. I really enjoy this part of the job as it helps me engage and assist with clients during some difficult times, aiming to assist litigators in a way that can maximise the value of the claim and to help ensure the client gets the best result possible, so that they can live the most fulfilling life possible, post settlement.
My job helps me to really make a difference and support some of the most vulnerable members of our society, and I hope by working with the industry leader in this field I will be able to assist many more people moving forward.
I have worked with Frenkel Topping as group director of compliance since 2009, and am responsible for developing and maintaining robust systems and controls in order to ensure that key risks are managed within the Frenkel Topping Group.
I am registered with the FCA as the SMF 16 and SMF 17, compliance and money laundering reporting officer functions and liaise with the regulator, having oversight of both advice, regulatory support and training, and competence operations. Having previous experience as an IFA, I’ve also had many years of financial services experience.
I enjoy the innovative style of Frenkel Topping which provides dynamic insights beyond the normal everyday tasks of compliance. My role of managing risk extends to personal life too – whereby I managed to land on the runway when making a parachute jump- avoiding the landing of an incoming glider!
I was previously Group Financial Controller for the group since May 2009 and joined the Board of the Company as Chief Financial Officer in March 2020. I qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant in 2010 and, prior to joining Frenkel Topping, I was a Financial Reporting Accountant at Carillion Utility Services and worked in various finance functions at Bupa.
I joined Frenkel Topping as a consultant in February 2015, progressing to my current position of Client Director in May 2023.
I am a chartered financial planner with over 20 years’ experience, and in my current role I act primarily as both an expert witness and a specialist financial adviser.
My work varies from offering simple guidance and support to clients through to complex calculations and providing in-depth financial advice. I pride myself on my ability to provide uniquely tailored financial planning to the individual needs of each client, depending on their financial sophistication and the nature and severity of their injuries or vulnerability. I am also fluent in Welsh and can offer these services bilingually.
I graduated from the University of Wales with an Honours Degree in Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics, and have worked in the financial sector since my graduation. At Frenkel Topping, I am able to advise some of the most vulnerable people in the UK, their families and legal advisers. I am passionate about providing a high level of detail and service to clients and their families at a time when they really need it. The unsettling and daunting time both pre- and post-settlement can create all sorts of emotions, financial planning needs and concerns. I feel very lucky to be able to help and can honestly say that I love the work I do.
I have family members with different disabilities and have seen first-hand the effect this can have on family life and individuals. Both my own and Frenkel Topping’s commitment is to be there every step of the way, providing specialist expert witness, financial planning and wealth management solutions to clients and their families, not only for today but also for the future.
